I am always hunting for inexpensive Hi Fi components, especially those that are from the days when Hi Fi meant tubes and vinyl. When I read about the Denon DL-103 moving coil cartridge, and the inexpensive Altec 15095 as stepup transformers, I knew that was what I needed to play my albums through. There is little to say about this design that is not covered extensively on Jospeh Esmilla's page on using mic input transformers as moving coil stepup transformers.

When I wired mine, I star grounded everything including the aluminum top plate to the ground stud. I'm not sure this is ideal, but it doesn't hum.
